I’m not sure I’m ready for this season to begin but I’m hoping that the Birmingham City players are. Garry Monk’s press conference helped to alleviate some of my anxiety. He seems to be able to find a positive aspect in every situation and I can understand why he can get a good response from players.

The club published the list of squad numbers this morning so I’ve quickly made myself a cheat sheet list of players and squad numbers so I can work out who is who.  There are some on the list that I know almost nothing about. Though I do remember Viv Solomon Otabor scoring the 5th goal when we beat Fulham 2-5 at Craven Cottage in 2015.  I’m not making any claims about the accuracy of my list; I did it in a hurry.

As I get ready to go, I’m feeling the usual mixture of fear and hope and asking the usual question, “Why do I put myself through this agony every season?”  The answer, of course, is that there is sometimes ecstasy as well and I love being part of the crowd when we’re all supporting the team and St Andrew’s is rocking.  Hope it’s like that today.

We take a two all draw – though it feels like a defeat – and move forward. Would newly-relegated Baggies fans be complaining at an injury time equaliser? You bet! But they’re below is I’m the table. Long may that continue. KRO.
