Our away fans have been magnificent this season and I’d like to express my respect and good wishes to all Birmingham City fans travelling up to watch the game at Preston today. I hope you see our team put in a similar performance to the one against Derby but get a better result. We lost to a better team, but I don’t think we deserved that scoreline.

There’s been discussion on what kind of players we need to turn us into a winning team but, so far, a few have left and none have come in. Transfers between the big clubs have cost crazy amounts and there is no way that clubs like ours can compete in that market. It looks like we may have to rely on the squad we have to keep us up. Let’s hope they can.

I Think we do have the personal to keep us up. We just have to find the right system to play them in. I think we’re pretty close to using that system now. The performance against Derby wasn’t too bad. We were beaten by a better side who also had the rub of the green. A similar performance with a little more luck should see us get at least a point today.

The match against Derby summed up quite a few games for Blues this season. Derby’s first goal was an own goal, the ball took a big deflection after the Derby player toe poked the ball, the second, although taken well , was from a defensive clearance which went over our defenders and the third looked offside. Blues hit the post twice, I know you might as well hit the corner flag as hit the post, but when things are going well, the one’s that hit the post go in. When a golfer is playing well, if he hits a shot offline it hits a tree and bounces back into the middle of the fairway, when he’s off form, it hits a tree and goes out of bounds. Keep working hard, put the effort in and maybe the luck will change.
