Birmingham City had more possession, more shots, more corners than Burnley but fewer goals so it ended as yet another 1 – 2 loss. It wasn’t a bad game but, as always, I would have preferred to win. I also prefer to pay attention to the game I’m watching rather than one being played elsewhere but, at times, part of the crowd seemed to responding to the Man U versus Villa game rather than what was happening on the pitch in front of them.
It wasn’t our last home fixture but it was our last afternoon home game as our game with Middlesbrough has been moved to Friday evening for the convenience of Sky TV. They had a couple of end-of-season type features at half time: a children’s version of the Chip and Win competition and a plane flying over the ground to advertise Team Blues’ London marathon fund raising for Liam’s Smiles. Next weekend is going to be a busy one for Gary Rowett. He’ll be up in Huddersfield for the game on Saturday and running the marathon in London on Sunday. I hope both events go well for him.
